KENNETH HAWKEY
April - May
Many of Kenneth Hawkey's misty and subduded local landscapes are featured in this showing. Works by Robin Wessman, Catherine Meeks, Candice Ronesi and Jane Manco are also highlighted.
ELISABETH PEARL
Truro Public Library, North Truro, MA
May 1 - May 30
Elisabeth Pearl has been recording her version of Provincetown’s quirky, colorful characters, architecture and the offbeat choreography of Commercial Street in lively, engaging paintings for many years. Rendered in oil and in brilliant color, Pearl’s paintings not only entertain but invite the viewer to join the scenes she has so brilliantly crafted.
KRISLEE
May 24 - June 5
Krislee, a.k.a. Christine, was born in the Bronx and grew up in Brewster, New
York. Chris studied at Buffalo State University, graduating with a degree in Art
Education. While visiting an artist friend in Provincetown in late summer 1962, Chris met her future husband, Chuck Leigh. Later, while she and Chuck were living on Long Island, Chris pursued her interest in painting and tried her hand at ceramics, selling them at local craft shows. She progressed into stained glass work,
teaching herself the process and excelled, successfully marketing her work as she
and Chuck traveled the east coast. Chris sold her stained-glass panels and
constructions at juried exhibitions, won numerous awards and was collected by
many. Chris also continued her painting and taught herself the art of cloisonné. Many of her paintings were inspired by her stained glass and cloisonné. Krislee’s stained-glass jewelry boxes and her abstract paintings represent a harmony that elevates one’s keen appreciation of each piece and of her unique aesthetic.
