Nancy McCarthy
Nancy McCarthy paints both from imagination and observation. She manipulates basic color theories with a no rules approach to make color energize her work and make it say what she wants it to say.
She has taught drawing and painting and color courses at Massachusetts College of Design, and other schools and venues including Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill and Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown.
Nancy McCarthy, Boston-based artist and educator, uses bold strokes of color to render land- scapes, familiar things in unlikely places, often with a nod to the abstract. McCarthy’s painterly approach underscores her subjects and the result feels out of time and timeless all at once.
